When It Doesn't Quack Like a Duck...

... it can still be a sock.

Even though this doesn't look like it, that sock actually fits a human foot. Look, it even has all the necessary parts of a sock.

The Toe

The Heel

The Cuff

The pattern is very loosely based on the Opal Sideways pattern. Very, very loosely. The pattern from Opal is absolute crap, so I tidied it up, changed the numbers to fit my Mum's feet and just twisted it around until my Mum liked the result. She only wears socks in the evenings or during the night, so she wants comfy, slightly big socks and these are just perfect for that.

The heel is made with slip stitches, just like a normal heel flap for cuff down socks. And the cuff has one garter stitch row every 4 rows, so it'll hopefully stay up well. All in all, I knit 111 rows, then grafted them together and picked up 60 stitches to start the toe decreases.

And I'm already well into the second one, actually much further along than in this photo.

But look at my new stitch markers! From Aija at Zer0. Very pretty and make knitting even more fun. :)
